Annual Inspection and Certification
Our licensed Service Technicians will come to your business and perform a thorough examination of all the fire extinguishers located throughout your building.
The inspection will include a detailed assessment of each fire extinguisher's mechanical parts, fire extinguishing agents and expellant gas. Key elements of a fire extinguisher inspection include:
1. Inspect the pressure on the gauge.
2. Inspect the condition of the gauge and its compatibility with the extinguisher.
3. Verify the hydrotest test date is within code requirements.
4. Verify the previous 6-year maintenance inspection date.
5. Inspect the valve and shell for damage or corrosion.
6. Inspect the condition of the discharge horn.
7. Break the fire extinguisher seal and extract the locking pin. Inspect the handles and verify the valve opening is free from debris or powder. Replace the locking pin and reseal the extinguisher with new tamper seal. Tidy up the extinguisher.
8. Verify that the unit is located according to code, clearly visible, unobstructed, hung properly and at specified height from the ground code.
Once the inspection is complete our Service Technician will consult with your company's representative to discuss any additional work that needs to be performed. You will incur additional charges if the fire extinguisher does not pass the inspection or is in need of additional maintenance such as recharges, hydrotesting, etc. Once all corrective measures have been taken, an Illinois State Certification Tag will be awarded to each fire extinguisher unit.
Although your fire extinguisher tag does not expire for one year, it is good practice and we highly recommend our customers to routinely look over your fire safety equipment, at least monthly, to ensure it has not been tampered with throughout the year. We offer monthly inspections. If you are interested in setting up monthly service, please contact the office.
Our customers benefit from our friendly reminder every year when they are due for Annual Maintenance and so will you.
